The Monasteries Route

Long ride, great spirit

An incredible journey through the history: six km of climb to get to Passo della Sella (931 mt a.s.l.), then 2 km to the village of Altipiani di Arcinazzo where we can visit the roman ruins of Trajanic period.

At the beginning of the main climb of the day we have a recovery stop at Monastery of Santa Scolastica where to fill the bottle with fresh water and take energy.

A long series of curves and tunnel without cars, enjoying the real taste of nature: this is the stunning Climb of Monasteries through the Simbruini Mountains

After the 9 km of ascent, stop for coffee in Jenne to drink a luscious Cappuccino with a Croissant, or have a lunch of homemade Pappardelle pasta with tomato and boar sauce in Altipiani di Arcinazzo. Visit the shops of the monasteries, where you can purchase liqueurs, chocolates and homemade sweets.

Be silent and smiling, it’s usual to meet cows and horses along the road, listen to the sound of the flowing water of the Aniene river.
